- KAVAN Flix DLG 850mm Kit
-
Our new small RC hand launch glider FLIX DLG is a handy model you could fly virtually anywhere. A model you could easily pack for your trips that would work with even the most basic two-channel radio...And do not forget - this RC hand launch glider will get you in shape in no time - the thoroughly performed discus launch is quite a bit of a sporty feat as well!
A small RC hand launch glider kit is a great thing for anybody who wants to build their models by themselves in the old-fashioned way of balsa, plywood, sticks and a little bit of carbon composites. The building is easy and goes forward quite nicely. FLIX DLG may not be an ideal very first model for a newcomer without any previous experience, but if you have built at least “something of balsa and sticks”, you should not have any problems. There should be no problems mastering the discus launch once your FLIX DLG is ready to fly as well – we included a link to our illustrated step-by-step web guide showing how it is done in the instruction manual.
Designed and manufactured in the Czech Republic.
This builder’s kit of a high-performance RC hand launch glider is a perfect project for a modeller wanting to build a really good DLG for sporty and “Sunday“ flying. The well-thought-out design with CNC-cut interlocking parts fitting together like pieces of a puzzle makes the building a breeze; the wing can be built on a flat workbench without the need for any special jigs.
The front part of the fuselage is a „box“ simply created by layering of liteply and balsa CNC-cut parts. The servo and battery compartment is located in the front part under the removable hatch with a magnetic lock. The tail boom is a carbon tube with a fibreglass seat for the horizontal tailplane.
The one-piece wing is of classic design with CNC-cut balsa ribs, leading and trailing edges with a carbon tube main spar for high strength at very low weight. The wing is secured to the fuselage with a bolt. The discus launch pin can be installed on the left wing tip (for right-handed pilots) or on the right wing tip (for left-handed pilots).
The empennage is made of CNC-cut balsa sheets. The elevator and rudder are controlled by servos located in the fuselage with piano wire push rods running through the tail boom.
You can use an iron-on film for covering - lightweight Oralight® or similar materials are preferred.
You will need at least two channel radio to control your FLIX DLG. Good 2–3 g micro servos (ca 0.5 kg·cm torque) are required for the elevator and rudder.
1S 3.7 V 350–450 mAh LiPo battery would make a great receiver battery.
The kit contents: CNC cut balsa and liteply/plywood parts, carbon tubes for wing main spars, carbon tail boom, accessories set, sheet of stickers, full-size building plan, instruction manual.
